Todd Bash (born 1965) is an avant-garde playwright and musician from Los Angeles, California.
He has written more than twenty works for the theatre, many performed and published, as well as prose, poetry and film projects. He is also the creator of numerous collages, art objects and musical experiments.
He has played in rock bands (as a drummer) and has created numerous sound collages that combine elements of industrial music with other distorted sound effects and recordings. His best known collection of sound collages is called DREAM MUSIC. In addition, he has done musical experiments involving amplified kazoos and duck calls.
As a playwright, his work often shatters the conventions of traditional theatre, and features dream-like imagery, recalling the experiments of the Paris Surrealists during the 1920s, as well as writers such as Alfred Jarry, Bertolt Brecht and Stanislaw Ignacy Witkiewicz. Among his plays are Das Nachtgespenst, Goldring, Nachthunde and The Final Thoughts Of Stanislaw Bashkiewicz. His short opera libretto Seehunde was set to music by Japanese born composer Shigeru Kan-no. (edit)
