Gabriela Di Laccio Biography

Soprano Gabriela Di Laccio graduated with Distinction from the University of Music and Fine Arts in Parana, Brazil. In 2001, Gabriela was the winner of the Araucaria Foundation Scholarship, enabling her to choose to further her studies at the Royal College of Music in London, where she gained Post Graduate Diplomas (PGDip) in Early Music and in Performance - Opera. She has now made London her home.

Gabriela has won several singing competitions including the Peter Pears Prize and the Richard III prize.

Operatic roles include Adina (L'Elisir d'Amore), Gilda (Rigoletto), Cleopatra (Julius Caesar), Adele (Die Fledermaus), Zerlina (Don Giovanni) and Susana (Le Nozze de Figaro).

Gabriela is also an accomplished and experienced concert artist. She performs regularly as a solo recitalist and as a member of various chamber groups, covering a wide-ranging repertoire from baroque to contemporary. As a soloist, her work has included Bach's B Minor Mass, St. John Passion and St. Matthew Passion, Handel's Messiah and Dixit Dominus, Vivaldi's
Gloria, Mozart's Exsultate, Jubilate and Haydn's Creation, among many others.

Gabriela is noted for her warm, bright voice, lively coloraturas and also for her expressiveness and powers of communication in her performances.

Recent engagements include a production of Monteverdi's Orfeo at the Banqueting House in London, a production in Athens of Rameau's opera Platee, concerts at the Wigmore Hall and in Newcastle with Florilegium and Emma Kirkby, a performance of Lucrezia at the Handel Festival and a solo concert at St. John's, Smith Square.
