Editing Guidelines

Bandlink has been designed in a way that anybody can edit a page. So, if you feel that there is information missing from this Patti Spadaro page, or there is incorrect information, please don't be afraid to make any changes that you feel are required. All we ask is that you do not vandalise this page in any way.

Any changes that you (henceforth known as the editor) make will not be live and will be placed in a temporary database. They will need to be approved by the editor-in-chief before they are placed in the live directory.

Artist Name

Simply, the name of the band or artist being edited. Unless the band/artist has changed their name, please leave this field as it is.


Patti Spadaro Biography Edit

The artist or band biography should cover as much detail as possible about (if a band) the inception or (if an artist) how they came to be a musician.  This should take us through their music career in detail up to present day, or until their death or disbandment.
Could editors please note that if any of this biography is copied from another source, that they include the name of the source in this submission.

The most common type of official sites an editor should submit is the one run by the band/artist or by the record label.  Other types of official site which should also be considered are official fan sites (endorsed by the band/artist and usually the community/streetteam offshoot of the main site) and official blog sites (such as MySpace).

NAME:
To keep conformity throughout the directory, the standard name an editor should submit for an official site is "Official (band/artist) Web Site".  The standard name for an official fan site is "Official (band/artist) Fan Site" and the standard name for an official blog site - for instance, a MySpace site - is "(band/artist) page @ MySpace".

URL:
Please make sure to add the "http://" to the URL of the website.

DESCRIPTION:
When adding a description for the site, please try to be as informative as possible.  If the site has biographies, discographies, a forum, chat room, multimedia, etc. try to include as much of this information as possible in the description.
Also, bear in mind that the description for a site should be concise and accurate, with no promotional text ("this is the best source of information on the planet for..."), or personal opinion ("this site is cool!").  Anything that does not follow the guidelines will be removed.

DEAD/BROKEN LINKS:
If you find that one of the links below is dead, please add '(DEAD LINK)' to the end of the URL line.  If you find that one of the links is broken, please add '(BROKEN LINK)' followed by the correct URL to the end of the URL line.

Many bands and artists have numerous unofficial or 'fan' web sites.  We could list as many unofficial sites as could be found but prefer to list the best sites available.  Bearing this in mind, the editor should consider sites that have one or more of the following characteristics.  Professional, well-established, highly informative, popular and unique.

NAME:
Please choose the name that the site owner has given to the site.

URL:
Please make sure to add the "http://" to the URL of the website.

DESCRIPTION:

BAND/ARTIST IMAGE:
Editors must keep in mind that any images submitted to this section must be copyright-free.  Album covers are the best source of copyright-free material.
Any image submitted must be already online.  If you have an image you'd like to use that is on your local computer, please upload it to a location on a web server such as an image gallery first.
Please note that the URL submitted must be the full address so please include the 'http://' at the start.
All images will be shown at a size of 200*200 pixels. So, editors should keep this in mind when choosing an image. If an image is too small it will appear 'blocky' and if the image is not very square, it will look out of proportion.


FROM:
For an artist, this should be the town and country where they were born and for a band, the town and country they formed in.


GENRES:
Could editors please put down as many genres as the band or artist fit. Some change genre with each album or over time so a list of all of these would be acceptable. A good list of genres and sub-genres can be found at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Music_genre

Please list the genres as a sentence. For example: "Alternative, Punk, Emo, Rock".


YEAR FORMED (BAND/GROUP ONLY):
For bands only. The year that they first formed.


YEAR DISBANDED (BAND/GROUP ONLY):
For bands only. If the band has disbanded, please could editors enter the year it occured. If the band is still going, please leave blank.


YEAR BORN (SOLO ARTIST ONLY):
For artists only. The year the artist was born.


YEAR DIED (SOLO ARTIST ONLY):
For artists only. If the artist has died, please could editors enter the year it occured. If the artist is alive, please leave blank.


PREVIOUSLY NAMED (BAND/GROUP ONLY):
For bands only. If the band had one or more former names, please could editors enter them here.

Please list the names as a sentence.
